Our HistoryThe Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire, Inc was formed at a meeting held September 15, 1950 in “The Little Red Schoolhouse” in Wakefield with thirteen societies represented. It was incorporated on October 16, 1951 with twenty-four charter member societies plus about 100 individual members.Membership in the Association is encouraged to anyone who is interested in the rich history of the Granite State. Meetings, workshops, and educational programs are held throughout the year, with our Annual Meeting held in October. In addition to AHSNH organized programs, the Association publishes the Directory of Historical Societies of New Hampshire and Other Historical Resources, a newsletter, and an email newsletter to help support the study, preservation, and understanding of New Hampshire history.
